Session Motivation
Technical expertise is no longer enough for a successful technology career. Crucial communication skills are often overlooked but are increasingly important for career advancement. Today’s technology professionals must articulate a clear understanding of the benefits, risks, and implications of technical solutions to diverse global audiences. Mastering the ability to communicate complex technical information in a clear, concise, and compelling manner is critical for a successful technology career.
Learning Objectives
This session will introduce technology professionals to the communication skills necessary for a successful technology career. It will expose participants to a structured approach to technical communication. This approach is built on three principles: mindset, narratives, and customization.
Mindset: It is essential that we develop the right mindset before we communicate. Humility, curiosity, and empathy are just as important as the technology.
Narratives: This section focuses on the stories we tell. To build a compelling story, we need to fully understand the problem we are solving as well as the benefits and risks.
Customization: In this section we discuss using social media, email, white papers, blogs, webinars, presentations, and demonstrations to connect with the audience and to achieve the desired outcomes.
