Working in a Pandemic (Series) Fostering a more Inclusive Workplace -
June 12th, 2020 @ 3pm to 4pm ET
This Free interactive ZOOM session will help you with Tips for Fostering a more Inclusive Workplace.
- Over the past several years, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion initiatives have become a priority within the world's top US organizations. Ongoing efforts to create workplaces that attract and retain a diverse talent, foster a sense of true belonging, and are infused with efforts to correct systemic imbalances, continue to make progress, but often fall short of creating real change. Our macro-cultural environment in the US right now speaks directly to how systemic oppression is the root cause of many seemingly-disparate societal ails, including DE&I challenges in the workplace.
- This workshop seeks to address systemic factors that have led to the need for comprehensive DE&I initiatives, provide a rationale for why Inclusion is particularly important to focus on, and how we can begin, with some thought-starters on how to do that. While by no means exhaustive, this forum is a humble offering to honor the significance of this particular moment in history, as well as the importance of rolling up our sleeves and grappling with these concepts together.
Learning Objectives
- Develop an understanding of what systemic inequity is
- Define Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
- Learn suggestions to begin to implement more inclusive practices in the workplace

Erica Ross, Lead Facilitator, Moderator and Cultural Insights Strategist
Erica’s career is centered on starting uncomfortable conversations. She began as a strategist in the advertising world, helping brands understand multicultural audiences and how to connect with them the most culturally-relevant and empathic way.
A passion for people, culture and the human experience, combined with herself being all things ‘multi – multiracial, multilingual and multicultural – infuses Erica with the passion and sensitivity to lead discussions around implicit bias, cross-cultural communication and diversity, equity and inclusion. After spending nearly a decade in the advertising and branding world, servicing clients such as Google, L’Oréal and General Motors, she now focuses her efforts on facilitating conversations around the things she feels are most important for folks to be talking about today.
Over the past several years she’s partnered with organizations to consult a range of global Fortune 500 companies. Most recently this year, she worked with a major bank to help illuminate the experience of borrowers from marginalized communities, helped a major beauty brand understand how women perceive diversity in advertising (pro tip -representation is not enough!), as well partnered with a major training company to develop content around bias and its impact on internal company culture.
She is most excited and passionate about mobilizing diverse groups of audiences to dismantle systemic inequity, including its effects in the workplace – not a small task, but one that feels the most important
